June 2, 2011: Swami today guides us on the fundamental virtues that we must cultivate.
Some say knowledge is the most valuable acquisition, but character is more valuable than knowledge. One may be a learned scholar or hold high positions of authority, or may be very wealthy or be an eminent scientist but if one has no character, all the other attainments are of no use at all. Sacrifice, love, compassion and forbearance are the sterling human qualities that you should foster. One must get rid of jealousy, hatred, ego and anger, which are bestial tendencies.

| 有人说，知识是最有价值的东西，然而，品德比知识更有价值。某人可能是饱学之士，或是位高权重，或是非常富有，或是杰出科学家，可是若没有品德，所有其他成就一点用也没有。奉献、爱、慈悲、耐性、忍，这些乃是你应当培养的真正人类的品德。一定要去除嫉妒、憎恨、我执、嗔，这些都是兽性。 |
